New Year’s Eve in Switzerland

Lago Maggiore from the train as I made my way north.
My first glimpse of the mountains. In Brig.
Some of the thermal baths here. I went this evening and it felt like Las Vegas, a light show and water fountains. Very cool!
The view from the gondola. We went way up. Kinda scary at one point, but okay.
Overcast and windy and bloody cold when I got it off the gondola.
A great place to hike and ski and sit to see the view.
Those tiny dots are people on the other side of the valley. The next two shots are just the scenery as the sun started to come out…

More views from the gondola…
Leukerbad has several old wooden houses. And some art.
Looking back up the mountain. You can see the gondola station on the right, in a low slot.
Fireworks seem to be legal and plentiful here. Here’s a lively display of some for sale. I didn’t buy any yet.
