Settling in

Perfect weather, excellent wine and cheese, a well-written detective story, and a deep sense of contentment. Doesn’t get better than this!

Not unpacked yet. Heading out to Ikea to get a chest of drawers where the drawers actually open and close… My mother’s old furniture is pretty rickety and I’m ready for more usable fixtures.

Here’s what my apartment looks like inside and outside. Plenty of books and plenty of light, with forests and hill towns above. A good space for me.

  1. Hey Sanborn, Great blog. So sorry to see you gone and I never connected. I (we) will miss you lots! I got as far as Oregon and settled. The weather suddenly threw a switch and Fall is here. Over 6 weeks of bad smoke is gone. Changing over to colder weather stuff all around.

  2. Totally cool. Here in Oregon the weather threw a switch and Fall arrived, and the smoke of two months is gone. Changing up to cooler weather stuff all around.

  3. I’m glad you arrived safely and, I hope, sanely. I saw Jim last night. He’s sleeping at your house on an air mattress. Laura and all of their worldly goods are still stuck north of the fire with no word yet on when they will get through. She’s camping somewhere with a sleeping bag and a cat.

  4. Glad you are settling in. Love the photos of your place. Looking forward to “joining” you on your journey!

  5. What a soul nourishing journey this promises to be. (Beautiful pix of the roof and beyond.) Here’s to a lovely, fulfillling time, Sanborn!!
