Met Rita at the Barsanti 50 gallery where she shows some of her work. She showed me a recent piece and told me its history. The marble is a rare type, no longer quarried because the Medici (or the Vatican?) have restricted its use for the restoration of their churches and other buildings. This block was from an old fireplace and it was big enough for Rita to make her sculpture out if it. Very cool. And it’s a lovely piece!
Gorgeous stone!
Wow! Beautiful. And good photos.
It’s so unusual. That strong red and white blend. I’m glad you like it.
Isn’t it amazing?!
